“Prom” (Walt Disney Pictures, $24.99/DVD, $32.99/Blu-ray SRP, PG) when you mull over its rating and the fact that it comes from Disney (a cookie-cutter plot with no sex, no drugs, no curse-words and no drinking — the very things that most other prom-related films sweet to include), but what you may not expect is how well it works. With a varied cast of characters including the jock, the nerd, the loner, the A-observer, the lovey-dovey couple and more, anyone can find someone to relate to. The story intertwines the prom episode of the eclectic mix of high school stereotypes as they experience everything from heartbreak to proclivity, mixing in enough drama to keep viewers interested and enough comedy to keep you chuckling. Inescapable, the target audience is pre-teens and teenagers, but I think anyone of any age will find something to like about “Prom.” DVD red-letter features include a blooper reel and a making-of featurette, while the Blu-ray piles on four deleted scenes, seven music videos and the “Last Maybe Lloyd” exclusive short.
